Cray Wins $26M Supercomputer Contract From DoD
Seattle-based Cray reported this morning that it has won a $26M, supercomputer contract from the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), as part of a computing modernization program for the agency. According to Cray, the award goes for a Cray XC40 and three Cray Sonexion storage systems. Cray said the new systems will be installed at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center DoD Supercomputing Resource Center (ERDC DSRC) in Vicksburg, Mississippi. The win was part of the DoD's High Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP). The system is expected to be installed in mid-2017, according to Cray.
