Cray Wins $32M Contract
Seattle-based supercomputer firm Cray announced a big win Tuesday, saying it has scored a $32M contract with the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre (CSCS), to upgrade that center's Cray XC30 supercomputer. Cray said the upgrade will include adding NVIDIA Tesla K20X GPU accelerators to the installation, and create the first, petascale supercomputer in Switzerland. The Swiss center is using the supercomputer for research in areas of material science, molecular biology, climate and atmospheric modeling, and geoscience.
