Glowforge: More Than $21M In Pre-Orders For 3D Printer

Seattle-based 3D laser printer developer Glowforge said this morning that it has now received a whopping, $21 million in pre-orders through its Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign. The company--which had hoped to raise $100,000 to place its product order--said it has blown through the record for the biggest Kickstarter project so far, passing up Pebble Time, which had raised $20,338,986. Glowforge, which is led by Dan Shapiro, has developed a 3D printer which lets users cut out 3D shapes from a wide range of materials. The company is backed by Foundry Group, True Ventures, and angels.
