Glowforge Opens Orders For New Laser 3D Printer
Seattle-based Glowforge has opened up pre-orders on the company's new, 3D laser printer, saying today that users can reserve their own printer for future delivery. Glowforge's printer lets users create things out of wood, leather, foam, paper, and other items, by using a laser cutter. The company is aiming at the "maker" market with its printer, for people who want to create objects not just out of plastic (as is usual with current 3D printers)--but practically any other item. The printer costs $1995. Glowforge is venture backed by Foundry Group, True Ventures, as well as angels Bre Pettis and Jenny Lawton (both formerly of MakerBot).
