Glowforge Starts Shipping Pre-Release 3D Printers, But No Firm Release Date
Seattle-based 3D printer manufacturer Glowforge said late Wednesday that it has started shipping pre-release units of its first product, which are being manufactured by contract manufacturer Flex. Glowforge did not say how many of the pre-release units it will be shipping; however, the company has an enormous backlog of orders--exactly, $27,907,995 worth--for its 3D printer, which has yet to ship to end users. Many of those users are hoping to get Glowforge's printers in hand before the holidays, which are rapidly approaching. Glowforge said it will ship its deliveries to "multiple cities in the U.S." over the coming weeks, and hopes on "large-scale deliveries" in December, dependent on the final results from beta and pre-release customers.
