F5 Backs OpenStack Group

Seattle-based F5 Networks is backing efforts to create an open, cloud-based standard to challenge Amazon's AWS computing cloud services, joining the OpenStack Foundation. F5 Networks said Tuesday that it has become a Corporate Sponsor to support the emerging OpenStack cloud software platform, which is being used to deploy both public and private clouds. OpenStack's open source, cloud computing platform allows ISPs to interchangeably host cloud-based application deployments, so that companies can more easily move their applications between different cloud environments. The platform also lets companies host their own, private clouds within an enterprise.
