Cray Joins OpenStack Group

Seattle-based Cray has joined an industry group promoting the OpenStack, open source cloud computing software effort, the company said this week, as part of its industry outreach. Cray said that it will contribute to OpenStack and work to integrate open source capabilities into future Cray products and services. OpenStack is a collection of cloud-based computing components which all work together, allowing users to host their cloud services across any OpenStack provider. The group has been looking to offer up an open alternative to things like Amazon Web Services.
