Intellectual Ventures Signs BlueCat Networks

Bellevue-based Intellectual Ventures, the patent licensing firm of Nathan Myhrvold, announced today that BlueCat Networks has signed a patent agreement with the firm. According to IV, BlueCat has become a customer of its "IP for Defense" program, and also has the right to acquire additional patents from its portfolio in the future. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. BlueCat said the deal comes after a competitor sued the firm over patent infringement, and that the deal will provide its with the intelectaul property strategy and assets to defend its business. BlueCat provides IPv6 networking technology.
