Netflix Now Completely Runs On Amazon Web Services
Netflix said on Thursday that it has shut down its last remaining data center, and now is running completely on Amazon Web Services, after a seven year migration to the cloud computing service. Netflix said it began moving its operations to AWS after a major database corruption in 2008 which kept it from shipping DVDs to its members, and that by 2015, most, but not all of its operations had been moved into AWS. The company said the last remaining bits -- billing infrastructure and software to manage customer and employee data--finally made the migration in early January.
