Cray Gets Massive, $128M Contract For Weather Computer
Seattle-based Cray has scored the largest, ever supercomputer contract for the company outside of the United States, via a $128M deal to supply its supercomputers to the United Kingdom for weather forecasting. Cray said the contract came from the Met Office in the UK, for multiple Cray XC supercomputers and Cray Sonexion storage systems. The Met Office is in charge of weather forecasting for the UK.
