Cray Wins $36M Contract
Seattle-based Cray says this morning that it has won a $36M contract, for European weather forecasting. Cray said that the contract covers upgrade and expansion of its Cray XC supercomputers and Cray Sonexion storage systems at the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF). Cray had originally installed those systems in June of 2013. The new contract upgrades the Intel Xeon processors used in that supercomputer, plus additional storage.
