Cray Wins $65M European Weather Contract
Seattle-based Cray has scored a supercomputer contract in Europe, to help bolster weather prediction and research on the continent. Cray said that the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) has selected a Cray XC30 supercomputer and associated storage for its next operational facility. Cray said the deal is worth more than $65M in total revenues. The new system is expected to go into production in 2014.
