Rover Competitor DogVacay Boosts Pets In Rover's Territory

Maybe it's not quite a dog-eat-dog world out there after all. The chief competitor to Seattle's online pet sitting marketplace Rover.com has an unlikely promotion which ultimately bolsters pet ownership in the Pacific Northwest. DogVacay.com, which operates its own, competing pet sitting marketplace service to match up dog owners with dog lovers willing to watch their dogs at their home--just booted up a promotion with Uber which ships dogs from DogVacay's home market--Southern California--to Rover.com's Pacific Northwest area for adoption. DogVacay and Uber said that they'll donate $5 for each ride in Los Angeles to specifically fund STARTrescue, a group which is moving unwanted animals out of Los Angeles to rescue groups in Oregon, Washington, and Canada.
