Rover.com Challenger DogVacay Finds More Funding
Who's going to be the top dog in this fight? Seattle-based Rover.com, the online marketplace which connects dog owners with local dog sitters, is getting a challenge from a rival, which just announced a big round today. DogVacay, which operates a peer-to-peer marketplace for finding dog sitters--and which is a direct competitor to Rover.com--said it raised $6M in a funding round from Benchmark Capital this morning. Benchmark is the venture capital firm which has backed such firm as Zillow, Avvo, and Uber. Rover raised a $3.4M funding round back in April for its own dog sitting marketplace, from Madrona and other firms; the company is run by Aaron Easterly. DogVacay is based in Los Angeles.
