Demand Media Files Paperwork For Domain Name Services Split

Demand Media said this morning that it has filed the paperwork required to split out its Kirkland, Washington-based domain registration business, Rightside Group, Ltd.. Demand Media said it filed the Form 10 registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission, which it says is a major step in its spinout efforts. Rightside will be led by Taryn Naidu, who has headed up Demand Media's domain business since 2011. Demand Media got into the domain name registration business way back in 2006, when it bought Bellevue-based eNom, which is the core of Demand Media's current domain name business.
