Demand Media Snags Microsoft, RealNetworks Vet For Domain Business

Demand Media has snagged a RealNetworks and Microsoft vet to head up its Kirkland-based domain name services business, saying this morning that it has named Steve Banfield as Senior Vice President and General Manager of its Regisrar Services business. Demand Media's registrar business runs its eNom and Name.com domain registration businesses. Banfield was previously at Sony, Microsoft, Paramount Pictures and Real Networks, most recently serving as SVP of digital for Paramount's Screenlife Games; he also had been VP and GM of RealNetworks, and also had been a multimedia evangelist once upon a time at Microsoft.
