Cyanogen Snags $23M For Android Software
Seattle-based Cyanogen, which develops an Android bootloader which allows power users to load any version of Android on their smartphone, has raised $23M in a Series B funding round, the company said today. The funding was led by Andreessen Horowitz, and also included Tencent, Benchmark Capital, and Redpoint Ventures. Cyanogen's software essentially allows users to load any version of Android they want, without the restrictions put on the software pre-loaded by mobile phone and tablet manufacturers.
