Intellectual Ventures Spins Out Evolv
Bellevue-based intellectual property licensing firm Intellectual Ventures has spun out a third company, saying yesterday that it has launched Evolv, a new startup focused on security imaging. Evolv is based in Boston. According to Intellectual Ventures, Evolv has raised $11.8M with investments from General Catalyst, Lux Capital and Osage University Partners. Evolv's technology is based on metamaterials technology from Duke University. IV has so far spun out two other companies, Kymeta (satellite antennas) and TerraPower (nuclear reactors).
