Microsoft In Licensing Deal With Sharp
Redmond-based Microsoft said Tuesday that it has signed Sharp Corp. as a licensee for its file system technology, covering the use of its latest latest Extended File Allocation Table (exFAT) in Sharp's Android smartphones. Financial details of the licensing deal were not disclosed. According to Microsoft, the move will allow Sharp to incorporate the file system into its portfolio. The move is the latest licensing win for Microsoft, which has been pushing IP licensing of its various technology via an IP licensing program it launched in 2003. The company says it now has over 1,100 licensing agreements.
