Microsoft Signs Velocity Micro On Android
Redmond-based Microsoft has scored its second Android patent licensing agreement this week, reporting this morning that Velocity Micro, a maker of Android-based tablets and other devices, has signed a patent agreement with the company. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. Microsoft said it will receive royalties from Velocity Micro as part of the deal. Microsoft has been aggressively licensing its technology to makers of Google Android devices, saying that Android infringes on a number of its patents; the firm has been demanding hardware manufacturers enter into royalty and patent agreements for patent coverage, or face a lawsuit. Microsoft added defense firm General Dynamics earlier this month to its patent licensing program.
