California Lawmakers Approve Deal With Amazon
California lawmakers have approved a deal with Amazon.com, which will delay collection of sales taxes by the e-commerce site until 2012, unless Congress passes legislation to set a national standard for online sales taxes. California's state Senate approved a compromise bill on Friday, and sent the bill on to California Governor Jerry Brown for approval. The new bill, AB 155, would replace an earlier bill approved by California lawmakers to tax Amazon.com, but which Amazon.com refused to follow. Amazon had cut off its California affiliates and launched a high priced referendum effort to overturn the prior bill. The bill was passed late in the evening on Friday.
