Itron Signs Utility In India

Liberty Lake, Washington-based Itron, a maker of smart utility meter systems, reports today that it has scored its first, automated water meter reading contract in India. The firm said it will deliver 150,000 of its meters to the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) in a deployment over the next two years. Size of the contract was not disclosed. Itron said that MCGM is installing the meters as part of an effort to reduce water theft, illegal connections, and leakages in its system.
