Westover Sells Seattle Fiber Division
Seattle-based Westover Scientific's fiber division has been acquired by California-based JDSU, a developer of fiber optic components. According to JDSU, it paid $50M in cash for Westover Scientific's division, which develops field and lab microscopes for finding dirt and contaminants in fiber optic cabling. JDSU said it also intends to acquire an affiliated manufacturing company in Fuzhou, China. The fiber division will become part of JDSU's Communications Test and Measurement business. According to JDSU, Westover Scientific's fiber test business had approximately 80 employees and revenues of more than $15M in calendar 2007.
