ThePlatform Signs Children's Video Firms
Comcast subsidiary thePlatform, a Seattle-based firm which helps publishers publish video to the web, revealed Wednesday that it has signed two separate agreements to help distribute children's videos to various Web sites worldwide. thePlatform said it is managing the back-end video platform for HIT Entertainment's brand-specific Web channels, including Thomas & Friends, Barney, Angelina Ballerina and Bob the Builder. The financial impact of the deal, which thePlatform said would continue through 2008, was not disclosed. thePlatform will also manage the publication and delivery of online video clips for SproutOnline.com, the Web site for the 24-hour publicly funded preschool network, PBS KIDS Sprout. The financial impact of this arrangement was not reported. Sprout was created as a partnership between Comcast Corp., HIT Entertainment, PBS and Sesame Workshop.
