Heptio Acquired By VMWare

Seattle-based Heptio, which develops software for the Kubernetes cloud environment, has been acquired by VMware. Financial details of the acquisition were not announced. According to VMware, the deal will help it engage the open source community, and also help support the "cloud native needs" of large enterpriess. Heptio was founded by Joe Beda and Craig McLuckie in 2016. Both Beda and McLuckie helped create Kubernetes. Heptio was venture backed by Madrona Ventures, Accel Partners, and Lightspeed Venture Partners.
