Intellectual Ventures' Invention Science Fund Backs UC San Diego Effort
The Invention Science Fund (ISF), the incubator arm of Bellevue's Intellectual Ventures, is backing a technology accelerator effort at the University of California San Diego, the university said this week. According to the university, it received $1M in a grant, from the Invention Science Fund, along with a local San Diego group, the Legler Benbough Foundation, to accelerate new companies out of the university. According to UC San Diego, the sponsorship will go to expand its existing Technology Accelerator program, which is run by the Jacobs School of Engineering. The Legler Benbough Foundation provided a $250,000 matching contribution to the new effort, with ISF providing $750,000.
