Cray Wins Nuclear Research Deal In Japan
Seattle-based Cray said on Wednesday that it has been selected for a supercomputer install in Japan, with Japan's National Institutes for Quantum and Radiological Science and Technology (QST). Size of the win was not announced. Cray said that the institute has selected its XC50 for a new, flagship supercomputing system, to provide a peak performance over over 4 petaflops. The new system will be used for plasma physics (turbulence, edge physics, integrated modeling) and nuclear fusion technology research.
