Amazon Hopes To Avoid Credit Card Charges With Amazon Reload

Seattle-based Amazon.com announced a new, rebate program on Tuesday, called Amazon Reload, in a bid to reduce its credit card processing expenses. The new program provides a 2 percent rebate to its Amazon Prime members, when they reload a gift card using either a debit card or direct bank transfer. Amazon said that members must sign up with both a debit card and bank account information, and will instantly have 2 percent added to their gift card balances when they use the service. The use of a bank account or debit card will help Amazon.com avoid the often times very steep fees retailers must pay when they accept credit card payments.
