Amazon Gets PCI Certification
Seattle-based Amazon Web Services said today that it has reached Level 1, Payment Card Indusry (PCI) certification. The certification means that merchants and other service providers can now run their e-commerce and store application using Amazon's cloud infrastructure. PCI is a requirement placed on vendors who accept credit cards, ensuring they have a certain standard of security on their systems and web sites. Prior to the certification, vendors running their e-commerce operations and accepting credit cards would have had difficulty using Amazon and meeting those requirements.
