Quansys Biosciences Launches New Nutrition Testing Tool
Seattle-based Quansys Biosciences, a developer of biomarker-based testing technology, said yesterday that it has launched a new nutrition testing tool aimed at combating malnutrition around the world. The company said its new Q-Plex Micronutrient Array test helps identify seven nutrition-related biomarkers in a single sample of human serum, and also can identify malaria infections. The company said it built the new diagnostic test in a joint effort with global health nonprofit PATH. Quansys said the new panel array detects biomarkers indicating iron and vitamin A deficiencies, inflammatory status, and malaria infection, as well as a number of other markers. The effort was funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
