Arivale, Co-founded by Gene Pioneer LeRoy Hood, Expanding To California

Seattle-based Arivale, a health and wellness startup which is combining whole genome sequencing and other diagnostic tests, and wrapping it into a counselor-driven, health coaching services, recently started to expand into California. The company--founded by gene sequencing pioneer Dr. Leroy Hood, and Maveron General Partner Clayton Lewis--recently started offering up its services in the Golden State, as it looks to push out from its initial launch in Seattle. Arivale raised $36M in 2015 from Maveron, ARCH Venture Partners and Polaris Partners, and is tying together genetics, clinical labs, gut microbiome, sleep and activity level testing and data with software--and most notably, personal counselors--who provide individualized action plans for its customers to optimize their wellness.
