Arivale, Founded By Leroy Hood, Finds $36M For Wellness Efforts

Seattle-based Arivale, a new startup founded by genomics pioneer Leroy Hood, said late Monday evening that it has raised $36M in a Series B funding. The funding came from ARCH Venture Partners, Polaris Partners, as well as Maveron. Arivale says it is using scientific techniques -- including DNA sampling, sampling users saliva and other information--to custom fit a scientific path to wellness. The startup came out of an effort at Hood's Institute for Systems Biology--the Hundred Persons Wellness Project which used those same scientific welneess techniques to help improve the cardiovascular health and nutrition of study participants.
