Amazon Plans New Wind Farm, In Texas
Seattle-based Amazon.com said this morning that it is opening up its fifth wind farm project, in Texas, to help supply power to Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud data centers. According to Amazon.com, the new "Amazon Wind Farm Texas" will supply 253-megawatts of capacity, generating 1,000,000 megawatt hours (MWh) of wind energy annually, or enough to power almost 90,000 U.S. homes. Amazon said the new project will join existing wind and solar farms it is operating in Indiana, North Carolina, Ohio, and Virginia. The new project will be build, owned, and operated by Lincoln Clean Energy (LCE).
