Amazon Web Services Ties Into Giant Wind Farm

Seattle-based Amazon Web Services has connected into a giant wind farm in North Carolina, the company's largest renewable energy project to date, Amazon said Monday afternoon. The 208 megawatt wind farm is being run for Amazon.com by Iberdrola Renewables, and straddles Perquimans and Pasquotank counties, North Carolina. Amazon said the utility-scale wind farm will be called Amazon Wind Farm US East, and will start generating approximately 670,000 megawatt hours (MWh) of wind energy annually starting December 2016, which Amazon says is approximately the energy that 61,000 US homes would use in year.
