Portland's Mobile Technologies Inc. Acquired By Private Equity Investor
Portland-based Mobile Technologies Inc., which designs and sells those leashes and other devices to keep tablet PCs, mobile phones, and other devices from disappearing from display stands at such retailers as Best Buy, Walmart, Costco, and elsewhere, has been acquired by private equity investor Vestar Capital Partners. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Vestar said it acquired Mobile Technologies from prior owner Hammond, Kennedy, Whitney & Company, Inc., in a partnership with the current management team at MTI, including President and CEO Chris Remy. Vestar is based in New York. Mobile Technologies Inc. was founded in 1977.
