Amazon Backs Indian On-Demand Startup Housejoy

Seattle-based Amazon.com is the lead investor in an Indian, on-demand home service startup's approximately $23M Series B funding. Housejoy, which provides on-demand, home services in India, said it has raised $23M in a round led by Amazon.com, and which also included Vertex Ventuers, Qualcomm, Ru-Net Technology Partners, and Matrix Partners. The company--like similar on-demand companies here in the U.S.,--helps consumers find home repair and maintenance service providers. Amazon India's Amit Agarwal led Amazon's investment in Housejoy.
