Amazon Launches Kindle In India
Amazon.com has launched its Kindle store in India, and inked a deal with an Indian retailer to offer up its electronic reader across the country, the company said this morning. Amazon said that its new India Kindle Store is launching with over one million books, priced in Indian Rupees (INR), including a number of works from Indian authors. The company also said it is in a deal with Indian retailer Croma to sell its Kindle throughout the country. Financial terms of the deal with Croma were not disclosed. As part of the launch in India, Amazon is also rolling out its Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) program to encourage independent authors and publishers in India.
