Amazon.com Gains Traction In India

Seattle-based Amazon.com said today that its site in India, Amazon.in, is now the most visited e-commerce site in the country. Amazon--citing numbers from comScore--said the October numbers comes two and a half years after launching in the country. Amazon--which is giving its customers 50 percent off on Bollywood videos as part of its marketing around the milestone--says it has grown sales on the site by 8x over the past 18 months. The company says it saw more than 30 million visitors in the month of October to the Indian ecommerce site. Amazon.com's major competitors in India are Flipkart and Snapdeal.
