Amazon Rolls Out Echo To India, Eyes Japan

Seattle-based Amazon is extending the reach of its voice-activated Echo, Echo Plus, and Echo Dot products to India, as it begins a larger worldwide rollout of its personal assistant products. Amazon said that Alexa and Echo are now available by invitation only in India, and it plans to roll out Alexa and Echo to Japan later this year. The company said that, as part of the expansion, it is also looking to provide its Alexa Skills Kit to enable third party developers to create localized experience in India and Japan for its customers. Amazon said the Echo devices will start shipping in India later this month.
