Institute for Systems Biology Teams With Providence Health

The Insitute for Systems Biology, the genetic analysis and personalized medicine research organization headed by Dr. Leroy Hood, has teamed up with fellow Seattle area healthcare provider Providence Health & Services, the two said today. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. As part of the deal, the two said that Dr. Leroy Hood will become Chief Science Officer for Providence. The organizations said they will establish a number of joint research projects in scientific wellness and personalized medicine as a part of the new strategic relationship. According to the two groups, the Institute for Systems Biology will remain a separate, legal entity, and will continue to set its own research agenda and oversee its daily management and operations.
