Cray Installs Supercomputer In Poland
Seattle-based supercomputer maker Cray reported Tuesday that it has installed one of its Cray XC30's in Poland. Cray said that the supercomputer was sold to Stalprodukt S.A., a global steel processor, which is using the supercomputer for structural analysis modeling. The sale is somewhat unusual in its commercial applications--although Cray does sell systems to commercial users, the bulk of the company's wins have traditionally come from government and university research institutions. Cray said the new system is its first Cray XC supercomputer in Poland. Financial details of the win were not announced.
