Intellectual Ventures Wins $17M From Symantec
Bellevue-based Intellectual Ventures has scored a patent infringement win against Symantec, in a patent infringement suit the firm had against the security software maker. According to Intellectual Ventures Friday, all three of its software security patents were found valid by a jury in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware. Symantec was orderd to pay $17M in damages for the patent infringement, for use in Symantec's anti-virus and Internet security products. IV had originally sought $298M in damages in the case. IV has had lawsuits going against Symantec since at least 2010 covering the patents.
