Intellectual Ventures Gets Challenge From Symantec, Trend Micro

Bellevue-based patent storehouse Intellectual Ventures is facing a new challenge to its patent licensing model, according to a report this morning, which says that Symantec and Trend Micro are fighting IV over buying patents at a song, and then turning around and suing companies for multiple millions of dollars for the same patent. According to the report, from Reuters, Symantec and Trend Micro are arguing that Intellectual Ventures' demand for $310M should not apply, because the firm only paid $750,000 for the patent.
