Moz: DDoS Hackers Only Wanted $200
When Seattle-based Moz, the developer of search engine optimization tools and services, started fighting off a distributed denial-of-attack (DDoS) this month, it was shocked to find the instigators merely wanted $200 to stop the attacks. However, according to reports, when the company refused, they upped the demand to $2000, and started further attacks. Moz is one of dozens of companies nationwide who have been hit by DDoS attacks and demands for Bitcoin ransom this month. The attacks have been against such well known names as Vimeo, Bitly, MailChimp, Basecamp, and others.
