Socrata Gets Investment From In-Q-Tel

Seattle-based Socrata, a developer of software to help citizens access information from government, and help make government data easier to access, said today that it has scored an investment from In-Q-Tel, the investment arm of the CIA and U.S. intelligence community. Financial details of the strategic investment were not announced. According to Socrata, the investment also includes an agreement work to further develop the company's software for us in for internal business analysts in "data-rich organizations." Socrata said it has now raised $25M in funding. The firm also has backing from OpenView Venture Partners, Frazier Technology Ventures and Morgenthaler Ventures.
