F5 Launches VXLAN Support
Seattle-based F5 Networks announced today that is extending its products to support software defined and "virtual" networking, including support for VXLAN, the effort by VMware to help define virtual networking overlays for creating software-defined networks. F5 said its BIG-IP products now support VXLAN on the latest VMware vSphere and vCloud Director environments. Virtual networking lets virtual machines running on VMware and other virtual environments communicate with a network of other virtual and physical devices on a network which is defined by software, not actual physical connections.
