F5 Upgrades Software Defined Networking Support
Seattle-based bandwidth shaping and load balancing hardware provider F5 said Thursday that it is adding a number of features to support software defined networking (SDN). According to F5, it has announced a set of features for BIG-IP, which integrated with VXLAN and NVGRE environments; refreshed the BIG-IP hardware; added on-demand licensing; and more. F5 said the features are part of its "ScaleN" architecture. The new announcement comes about six months after F5 acquired software defined networking vendor LineRate Systems.
