Alaska Airlines Suffers Delays Due To Network Outage
Seattle-based Alaska Airlines has had to resort to "manual processes" for check-in, after an outage in Wisconsin cut off its communications with its computer reservation systems. Apparently, the outage started at 7:30 a.m. PST this morning after one of Sprint's fiber optics cables was cut in Wisconsin, cutting off access to Sabre, which the firm uses for reservations, check-in, and for ticket purchases. Travelers report that Alaska Airlines agents had resorted to hand writing tickets to travelers.
