Eclipse Fan Alert: Alaska Airlines To Chase Solar Eclipse Across Oregon
Looking to get as much eclipse as you can handle for the upcoming August eclipse of the sun? Seattle-based Alaska Airlines said it will be chasing the eclipse across Oregon, with a specially chartered Alaska Airlines flight this year, which will take off from Portland and fly up the coast of Oregon to allow eclipse fans to view the eclipse in totality, from 35,000 feet. According to Alaska Airlines, the flight will not be commercially bookable, but that it will be giving away a seat to one lucky eclipse chaser and guest for the flight, scheduled for August 21st. Alaska said it will launch a contest for those pair of seats on its social media channels on July 21st. Alaska Airlines said it did something similar in 2016, when it adjusted the flight path for Flight 870 from Anchorage to Honolulu to optimize viewing of a total solar eclipse for its passengers.
