Paul G. Allen's Mother, Faye Allen, Dies at 90
The mother of technology mogul Paul G. Allen, Faye Allen, has died at the age of 90. Faye Allen who was the inspiration for Paul G. Allen's funding for the Allen Institute for Brain Science, was a former schoolteacher, and loved book and reading. The Seattle Central Library's Faye G. Allen Children's Center and the Faye G. Allen Center for the Visual Arts at the University of Washington's Henry Art Gallery were both named after Allen. Paul G. Allen said in a statement that Allen's battles with Alzheimer's disease were the inspiration for his creation of the Allen Institute for Brain Science, which is focused on research which might some day lead to a breakthrough in treatment of Alzheimer's and other genetic brain disorders and diseases. Faye Allen's daughter, Jody Allen, is CEO of Vulcan Inc., which she runs with her brother.
